Music therapy activities are much more varied than it seems. Though it would be reasonable to think that music therapy would consist of music, the extent to which music can be used is far more expansive. From lyrics to dance, musical backgrounds and song sharing, music therapy activities can be custom fit to the patient they are meant to help. But learning more about each of these techniques can help patients and therapists get ahead of the problem and start getting to the solutions.

Using song lyrics is one of the more common music therapy activities in rehabilitative and counseling sessions. By writing lyrics about difficult things in your life, you might be able to see connections and solutions to your own problems. The therapists might have to rewrite the lyrics to a particular song you enjoy or to a song that you feel is similar to your feelings at the time. You might also be asked to write lyrics to a song about the life you want to create for yourself – whether this is related to psychological or physical changes.

Dancing to music is another way to encourage people to work through a number of problems. In the physical therapy setting, dancing and moving to the music are music therapy activities that can bolster strength as well as moods. By slowly working your way up to more strenuous activities, a patient can begin to feel more confident in their ability to move while also gaining strength and stamina along the way. With upbeat music, it’s easier for people to continue working out too as they can feel inspired by the tempo or the lyrics in the songs they choose.

Just playing soft music in the background of a therapeutic session can be considered one of the more positive and practical music therapy activities. Every wonder why elevators always play soft and soothing music? Because this helps people relax and not worry so much about the elevator malfunctioning. On the opposite side of the music gamut, playing harder, louder and faster music can increase the heart rate and cause the person listening to make decisions more quickly than they should – that’s why many stores play loud and penetrating music.

Therapists might also use music therapy activities that include sharing songs that the patient or the therapist feel are relevant to their discussions. By taking time to share a song, the patient doesn’t have to talk as much about what they feeling, letting the music speak for them.

There are many music therapy activities that can help the patient reach their goals and the therapist to communicate in a positive and successful way.

Relaying information is just one of the ways that journals and professional publications can help their targeted information. By compiling all of the relevant news and findings in the music therapy world, the Journal of Music Therapy helps to keep music therapists up to date. Whether you are a music therapist or someone who’s simply interested in the field, the Journal of Music Therapy might be a wise investment for you. This periodical can help you see the value of music therapy as well as allow you to see what others are doing with this therapeutic technique.

For the past fifty years, the Journal of Music Therapy includes articles that have been published by professionals in the music therapy field. These articles can range from scientific findings in relation to the use of music in therapy or they might be case studies of patients who used music therapy techniques. Published by the American Music Therapy Association, this periodical is published quarterly.

Those who aren’t in professional positions might not understand the value of the Journal of Music Therapy. What this publication does is assemble the latest findings in the therapy setting – and though this sounds simple, it’s actually a time consuming process. Each of the articles that is submitted or publication needs to be reviewed by other music therapy professionals. This step helps to determine the validity of the article as well as to prove the background of the writer. In doing so, the article will be reviewed and comments will be sent back to the author, if necessary, for changes that need to be made.

Once the writer has made these changes, the Journal of Music Therapy will then consider it for publication. Hundreds of articles make it to the journal each month and with only a quarterly submission period, it’s difficult to choose so many articles as well as to go through the review process.

The good news is that unlike other medical and therapy publications, the Journal of Music Therapy can also be viewed by those who aren’t actually practicing in the field. So anyone can take the time to read this publication, which is important for those who are thinking about entering into the field. High school students and college co-eds might want to read through the articles to see whether this field appeals to them.

With the Journal of Music Therapy, you can peek into the world of music therapy to see if it’s for you – or if it’s for someone you know that hasn’t found the help they need yet.

For most people, the history of music therapy is not nearly as important as its ability to help them with their problems. But knowing where this particular therapy came from will help you understand why it does work and how it might work for you. The history of music therapy goes further back than you think – even though it seems like a newer innovation in the therapy business.

A case could be made for the history of music therapy going as far back as biblical times. By using music as a part of religious rituals, it seems that positive things happened or that people were reinforced in their specific belief structures. Because music was a part of this process, it seems that music therapy was having an effect already – even if it was unintentional.

Many tribal cultures have also used music as a part of their fertility ceremonies, to worship their gods, and to help with illnesses. In each of these cases, it may be said that the music itself was the motivating factor in helping the patient achieve positive results.

Others believe the history of music therapy began in the late 1800s. There is also evidence the music therapy was used in the post World War I treatment of traumatic injuries. By playing music, patients seemed to heal faster – both emotionally and physically. In listening to the music in the background, patients reports less pain than they had had before the music was turned on. With these positive results, it became clear to doctors and nurses that music really could be therapeutic for a number of patients.

With these positive results, the history of music therapy began to turn to training people to become music therapists. By creating college and university programs which taught music therapy, more psychologists and therapists were able to share this simple and effective technique with their patients. The American Music Therapy Association was developed and multiple academic publications are now available for professionals in the field.

Music therapy today focuses on helping address a variety of concerns in a number of settings. Not only is music therapy used in conjunction with physical therapy, but mental health professionals are finding that music helps relax their clients as well as stimulate conversation. In addition, nursing homes, hospice centers, and rehabilitation facilities are all finding that music therapy can work in conjunction with other activities they have planned.

The history of music therapy may stretch back to times long before our parents and grandparents, but that must mean that it’s doing something right – and that you might want to look into it yourself.

Today’s society is filled with people trying to find alternative remedies to illnesses. There are many reasons for this, from lack of health insurance to the desire to avoid medication. But whatever the reason, many alternative therapies, like music therapy, have grown in popularity. In fact, music therapy has not only gained popularity, it has also gained recognition as a medical profession. This has led many students interested in careers helping others to seek degrees in music therapy.

Of course, both students and people who are seeking relief from ailments are searching for information about music therapy. This is where articles on music therapy become important. Articles on music therapy can help educate non-professionals about this professional field. Professionally written articles, such as research articles, are the best way to go for those who are looking for information regarding the proven benefits of music therapy.

These articles will give the reader an idea of what types of music therapy techniques have been used in which situations, and how those techniques have fared when compared to traditional therapy methods.

For example, a person interested in using music therapy to treat chronic pain would want to search for articles on music therapy that dealt with the results of research performed on chronic pain patients. These articles will give the person an idea of the music therapy techniques that seem to work the best on chronic pain patients – such as utilizing music as a distraction from pain, or as a relaxation method to reduce physical stress that can enhance the brain’s perception of pain.

Articles on music therapy allow the reader to see how music therapy is used in chronic pain patients and what he or she can expect from music therapists for his or her particular condition. The reader can also choose the technique that seems best to him or her and suggest that to his or her music therapist.

Whether the reader is a student or a potential music therapy patient, it is extremely important for him or her to know how to determine the validity of the articles on music therapy he or she is reading. The best resources are available at the library; published articles are written by scholarly authors with formal background in the subject. If the library is not an option, the interested person can look for legitimate articles on music therapy on the internet.

A good tip for this person is to look for articles published on websites hosted by professional music therapy organizations like the American Music Therapy Association. Articles on music therapy from these organizations will be accurate and up-to-date.

In creating validity for music therapy, the American Music Therapy Association has quite a job ahead of them. While this organization is comprised of over five thousand licensed and practicing music therapists, getting the word out to the community as a whole has not necessarily been an easy process. But the American Music Therapy Association is doing its part to help let others know the value of music therapy for those patients who may not be responding to conventional therapies.

The main goal of the American Music Therapy Association is to spread the word about the value of music therapy, but also to show that this type of therapy can help those cases where traditional treatments fail. The most current direction for music therapy is actually outside of the therapist’s office and into a rehabilitation facility. By using music, it seems that patients are more motivated to handle physical therapy tasks and goals, while those patients with Alzheimer’s are seeing improvements in their moods and health. Other research is showing that music therapy might be useful in helping those with compromised immune systems.

Located in Maryland, the American Music Therapy Association helps to spread the word by holding annual conferences and maintaining a website that can answer most people’s basic questions about music therapy. Licensed music therapists and other benefactors can also become members of the American Music Therapy Association and help to continue on with the main mission of music therapy. Members are able to access further information on the website, while also being able to take advantage of discounted rates for conferences and classes.

You can also learn about developing a career in music therapy from the American Music Therapy Association. Their website will guide you through the thought process behind this career choice as well as recommend various music therapy programs in the United States. Members will have access to resources that will help prospective students find scholarships and grants as well as to help graduates find jobs in their area.

The American Music Therapy Association is also responsible for maintaining a number of music therapy related publications for professionals and students to read. These include The Journal of Music Therapy, Music Therapy Perspectives, AMTA Member Sourcebook, Music Therapy Matters, and Music Therapy eNews. These publications offer information on current research as well as perspectives on uses of music therapy for a variety of medical purposes.

With the American Music Therapy Association, more people are learning the benefits of music therapy for their patients or perhaps for their own therapy needs. And that’s music to anyone’s ears.

Some of thee are still used today with varying results. Strictly speaking, all hair loss products could be considered “natural”, as they are produced from elements found on Earth.

For purposes of this discussion, however, a “natural” remedy refers to any ingredient as it is found in nature and not altered or treated in any way before its use. Some people claim success with these methods and products, so it is worthwhile to examine a few of the most popular.

Essential Oils

These are concentrated oils from certain plants, such as lavender, soybean, and bay. They are massaged into the scalp and are purported to assist with circulation and follicle stimulation.

Exercise

Any form of exercise increases and improves blood circulation to all parts of the body, including the scalp. It is believed that increased blood supply to the cells in hair follicles will maintain their health and stimulate hair production.

Herbal Cocktails

A variety of herbs are recommended, to include Rosemary, Sage, Nettle and Burdock. The advice is to boil them together, strain off the leaves, and wash the hair with the solution every day.

Jojoba Oil

Widely used in Mexico for hundreds of years, it is massaged on the scalp, and many claim it is highly effective in stimulating new hair growth.

Lowering DHT

DHT is formed when an enzyme in a man’s body acts upon testosterone and is believed to be responsible for the “closing-up” of hair follicles. Provillus shows a lot of prospect and may block DHT production and thus shows promise as an aide for male hair loss sufferers. You can find it at Provillus Hair Regrowth for Men and Women

Homeopathic physicians usually recommend that some of these treatments be used concurrently. Some have had success, but, as in all cases, different bodies respond differently to any treatment. Still, they are worth a try before more expensive methods are considered.

Probiotics are dietary supplements containing potentially beneficial bacteria or yeast. According to the currently adopted definition by FAO/WHO, probiotics are:

Live microorganisms which when administered in adequate amounts confer a health benefit on the host.

Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) are the most common type of microbes used. LAB have been used in the food industry for many years, because they are able to convert sugars (including lactose) and other carbohydrates into lactic acid. This not only provides the characteristic sour taste of fermented dairy foods such as yogurt, but acts as a preservative, by lowering the pH and creating fewer opportunities for spoilage organisms to grow.

Probiotic bacterial cultures are intended to assist the body’s naturally occurring gut flora to reestablish themselves. They are sometimes recommended by doctors, and, more frequently, by nutritionists, after a course of antibiotics, or as part of the treatment for gut related candidiasis. Claims are made that probiotics strengthen the immune system.

The rationale for probiotics is that the body contains a miniature ecology of microbes, collectively known as the gut flora. A number of bacterial types are thought to be thrown out of balance by a wide range of circumstances including the use of antibiotics or other drugs, excess alcohol, stress, disease, or exposure to toxic substances. In cases like these, the bacteria that work well with our bodies (see symbiosis) may decrease in number, an event which allows harmful competitors to thrive, to the detriment of our health.

Maintenance of a healthy gut flora is, however, dependent on many factors, especially the quality of food intake. Including a significant proportion of prebiotic foods in the diet has been demonstrated to support a healthy gut flora and may be another means of achieving the desirable health benefits promised by probiotics.

Experiments into the benefits of probiotic therapies suggest a range of potentially beneficial medicinal uses for probiotics. For many of the potential benefits, research is limited and only preliminary results are available. It should be noted that the effects described are not general effects of probiotics. All effects can only be attributed to the strain(s) tested, not to the species, nor to the whole group of LAB (or other probiotics).

The body is like a highly functional machine. A machine as we well know must go through a period of complete readjustment, cleaning, realigning, refurbishing etc. so also should our body. In our daily activities, we forget to check our bodies. We forget to take care of our bowels and as result, we sometimes become less effective than we are supposed to be.

Let me explain.

Let’s say you’ve got this very important meting that you need to be at and just about the time you sat down, you had this terrible urge to go. What do you do? Leave the delegation and go spend thirty minutes in the loo while keeping them waiting? Imagine what harm that can do to your business. So you see that not cleaning out your bowels can adversely affect the results you pursue.

To effectively carry out an evacuation of your bowels, it is best to take something that will not affect or interfere with your daily activities. This is where using herbal supplements come in. Other forms require you to use interfering methods that you would not like. For example if you were to do a hydrotherapy, you would end up spending about ninety minutes in the clinic or at home.

Do you have abdominal pain or cramping? Do you have constipation? Diarrhea? How about vomiting, or fever or headache? How about bloating and water retention? Irritable bowel syndrome is not pleasant for anyone who has it, and many many people do suffer from it, in fact more every year. Many of these turn to Bowtrol Colon Cleanser for relief.

Why Do They Turn To Bowtrol Colon Cleanser?

The answer to that is easy. Bowtrol Colon Cleanser is all natural and has many successful users. Their track record is outstanding. Bowtrol Colon Cleanser in league with a healthy lifestyle that should include moderate exercise and sensible eating habits can help keep the colon cleansed. Two to three good, regular and healthy bowel movements a day are essential to good colon health. Bowtrol Colon Cleanser helps with this. So does good eating. Most people eat way too much fast food. Too much sugar, too much fat. Not enough vegetables and fruit.

Not enough healthy grains or legumes. Legumes are beans of all types – green beans, black beans, lima beans, butter beans, brown beans, navy beans, pinto beans, and on and on. Also peanuts are legumes. These are great sources of fiber for better colon cleanliness and better colon health. A one-two punch of better eating habits and Bowtrol Colon Cleanser can make a world of difference in most people. Good colon health and cleanliness can be the difference between a pain free day and a day full of abdominal cramping. It can also be the difference between feeling good and feeling constipated, or bloated or headachy. And remember that good colon health means no diarrhea, an experience few people enjoy.

The reason for good colon health and cleanliness leading to health elsewhere in the body is simple really. The colon is a very large and very complex organ. It contains more nerves than any other organ, except of course for the brain and the spinal column, known as the central nervous system. All other organs in the body are connected to the colon, and all organs in the body work together.

If the colon has problems, these problems spread to other organs and you will feel symptoms of spastic colon, irritable bowel syndrome or another ailment. It only makes good health sense to do what you can to keep your colon cleansed and healthy to keep the rest of your body functioning properly. Bowtrol Colon Cleanser is a great place to start.

Thousands and thousands of people suffer from irritable bowel syndrome. It affects young, old and middle aged. Men and women are both affected by this ailment. Many thousands of man hours are lost in the working world due to absence or when a person comes in to work, from being less productive simply because they don’t feel well. Irritable bowel syndrome is blight upon American culture and on the American economy, and it is treatable and doesn’t have to be that way.

The causes of irritable bowel syndrome are many, but the most common, according to many experts, is a build up of fecal matter and the resulting gas and bacteria that comes from it in the colon. The bacteria grows rapidly and spreads toxins throughout the body. The body reacts in a multitude of ways. This can be manifested in constipation, diarrhea, headache, water retention, or abdominal pain and cramping. No one likes having irritable bowel syndrome. It is painful, uncomfortable and inconvenient.

Getting Rid of Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Controlling or getting rid of irritable bowel syndrome can be done in many cases through cleansing of the colon. A clean colon is a healthy colon, goes the old saying. Many people cleanse their colons through changing their eating habits. They turn to healthier foods such as big green leafy vegetables, fruits, salads, and whole grains for breads and pastas. They eat fewer fatty foods and less processed sugar. They don’t go to fast food restaurants as often. And many of these people have also discovered the benefits of the natural supplement known as Bowtrol Colon Cleanser.

Those who use Bowtrol Colon Cleanser have been known to recommend it to friends, relatives and acquaintances who suffer from irritable bowel syndrome as well, because it has worked so well for them. By using Bowtrol Colon Cleanser these people are enhancing the body’s changes of cleansing the colon and discharging the fecal matter and bacteria that causes the problem. If you had basic science in junior high school, the concept should make sense. Getting rid of the bacteria gets rid of the toxins.

Having two or three good bowel movements a day should get rid of the fecal matter, which should get rid of the bacteria and gas, and should result in a cleansed colon, fewer toxins and better health. In this way a combination of healthy eating and use of the supplement Bowtrol Colon Cleanser can lead to feeling better and improved health.
